The dish washer and dryer only turn on when they receive a signal from the power outlet– when the electricity is cheapest. Appliances with a decentralised power supply only feed electricity into the network when it is particularly low and thus it can be sold for a particularly high price.

The newest counting and communication technology will make it possible to gear power consumption in such a way that everyone benefits from it: the customers get lower power bills and the energy companies benefit from less usage peaks.
For 2006, EnBW has planned a first pilot project of this type in a test market in Baden-Württemberg.
