3rd German Conference on Climate Change

"Protecting the Climate – the Options?"
Berlin, 26th November 2008

The right question at the right time

Realistic options for a worldwide climate protection – the scientific, commercial and political communities will discuss this issue at the 3rd German Conference on Climate Change organised by EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. On the 26th of November 2008 experts from the USA, China, India, Australia and other countries will take part in discussions under the title "Protecting the Climate – the Options?". Among other experts, Prof. John Schellnhuber, climate advisor to the German Chancellor and Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research will also be present.

Shortly after the US elections and just before the UN Conference on Climate Change in Poznan (Poland), the German Conference on Climate Change will deal with the positions of the major players and will examine the options available to avoid dangerous climate change and answer the following question:  What instruments are available and suitable to solve the contradictions of competing interests and the necessity for cooperation? Among other issues, the distribution of responsibility between industrialised and emerging countries, the role of renewable and nuclear energy sources, and the chances and problems of a global emissions trading system will be discussed.

Our social responsibility

With the 3rd German Conference on Climate Change, EnBW continues its successful commitment from the previous years. In 2006, EnBW was the first German company to become actively involved in the discussion on climate protection. In 2007, EnBW pointed the way forward with the foresighted invitation of Nobel Prize winner Al Gore.

The 2nd German Conference on Climate Change

dealt with the topic "The Economics of Climate Change". The Nobel Prize winner Al Gore was a guest speaker.

The 1st German Conference on Climate Change

with the topic "Changing Climate - Facts, Impacts, Perspectives", led to the Berlin Declaration among other results. You will find further information here.
