Innovations

EnBW's main task is to supply its customers with reliable, economical, and environmentally-friendly electricity and heat. The use of new technologies for energy conversion by the EnBW group of companies is indispensable for this purpose. It is the special responsibility of our Research, Development and Demonstration Department to ensure that these technologies are available to our subsidiary companies for their business activities.

Examples of the main research activities in 2003 are the potentials of decentralised power generation by means of fuel cells as well as the use of renewable energy, especially the utilization of geothermal heat. The optimisation of power plants, power transportation, and power distribution were also a main focus of our work.
