Wind power

Wind power plays a key role for the energy mix of tomorrow – on land and at sea. EnBW is active in both fields. We are currently realising the most important wind power project in Germany with four large offshore wind farms in the North and Baltic Seas.

Using wind power – on land and at sea

EnBW has been undertaking research into wind power since the mid 1980ies and operates onshore wind power plants with a total output of around 160 MW.

EnBW is also active on the open seas to develop further wind power potential. Offshore wind farms produce a third more power than plants on land on account of the better wind conditions. They are thus seen as one of the most important sources of renewable energies.

Wind power at EnBW in figures

Since 2008 EnBW has been developing four large offshore projects in the North and Baltic Seas, whose overall output of around 1,200 MW make them the most important wind power project in Germany at the present time:

  • EnBW Baltic 1: 48,3 MW, in operation since May 2011
  • EnBW Baltic 2: approx. 300 MW
  • EnBW He Dreiht: approx. 400 MW
  • EnBW Hohe See: approx. 400 MW
