Unit I of the Neckarwestheim nuclear power station will be shut down for maintenance work

Karlsruhe. Unit I of the Neckarwestheim nuclear power station (GKN I) will be shut down for maintenance work as a precautionary measure by EnBW Kernkraft GmbH. EnBW’s safety-related performance is decisive for this.

The repair of a minor leak in the pressure vessel lid gasket area is planned. The leak was determined by the leakage monitoring system designed specifically for this. It is not a relevant safety hazard. The lid gasket will be replaced.

A notification requirement according to the Nuclear Safety Officer and Reporting Ordinance (AtSMV) is currently not necessary. The regulatory authority, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, will be informed about additional courses of action.
