Unit I of the Neckarwestheim Nuclear Power Plant is back on the grid after maintenance work
Karlsruhe. Unit I of the Neckarwestheim nuclear power plant (GKN I) has been put back on the grid this morning (6 June 2008). It was shut down for maintenance work by the operating company, EnBW Kernkraft GmbH. EnBW’s safety-related performance was decisive for this.
Before, a minor leak in the pressure vessel lid gasket area had been determined by the leakage monitoring system designed specifically for this purpose. The leak was not a relevant safety hazard und has been repaired.
The regulatory authority, the Baden-Wuerttemberg Ministry of the Environment, was informed about the courses of action during the maintenance work.
