So, what exactly does the Activation Team do?
Nadine & Vivien: We accompany new employees from the moment they sign their contract until about three months after their start – with tools, events, personal touchpoints and, of course, our new onboarding podcast. The goal is to provide orientation, confidence and a positive feeling right from day one.
Why is a structured onboarding process so important to you?
Nadine & Vivien: Because it pays off for everyone. When people feel welcome and well supported early on, they’re more motivated, engaged and likely to stay longer. At the same time, good onboarding accelerates professional training and strengthens team cohesion.
How did the idea for the podcast come about?
Nadine & Vivien: An internal survey showed that after signing their contracts, new hires often experienced a period of “radio silence.” But that’s exactly when we can spark curiosity and connection. The podcast is designed to fill that gap – informative, entertaining and straight from the EnBW universe.
What can new colleagues expect in the podcast?
Nadine & Vivien: A wide range of topics – from our business areas and our mission of climate neutrality to how collaboration works at EnBW. In addition, colleagues from different departments share their honest experiences and perspectives.
How does the podcast complement existing onboarding measures?
Nadine & Vivien: It’s part of our preboarding phase. Alongside the preboarding portal – which offers plenty of information about benefits, work-life balance and company culture – and a welcome package that arrives shortly before the start date, the podcast ensures a motivated and authentic EnBW welcome.
How did the production process go?
Nadine & Vivien: We worked with external agencies for support, but the real heart of it was our colleagues. Finding recording slots was sometimes the biggest challenge – but everyone was incredibly natural and confident once the microphones were on.
Who features in the podcast?
Nadine & Vivien: From newcomers like Anastasia and Morris, who had only been with us for three months at the time of recording, to long-time colleagues like Andrea and Fabian. Our CHRO Colette Rückert-Hennen and Netze BW Managing Director Bodo Moray also joined in.
Who is the podcast for?
Nadine & Vivien: Primarily for new colleagues – but anyone who wants to get to know EnBW better or share the podcast with others is warmly invited to listen.
Will there be more episodes?
Nadine & Vivien: Yes! Six more episodes will go live in September – and we’ll see where it goes from there. If the feedback stays positive, definitely! We already have plenty of ideas for future episodes
What’s your long-term vision for onboarding?
Nadine & Vivien: That every new colleague feels seen, informed and included from the very beginning. A good start builds trust – and that’s our main goal: a positive, holistic onboarding journey that lasts. The podcast is one important piece of that.
In three words?
Nadine & Vivien: Informative. Personal. Close-up.
