Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel: EnBW is a pioneer when it comes to climate protection
Berlin. At the first German Climate Conference, Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel praised the commitment of the electricity utility company EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG: “EnBW and its Chairman of the Board of Management, Prof. Dr. Utz Claassen, are pioneers when it comes to climate protection; there compass is pointing in the right direction,” said Gabriel at the start of the international conference. He said it was remarkable how devoted the electricity utility company EnBW is to the topic of climate change, instead of just worrying about the shareholder value. During his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Utz Claassen highlighted the fact that climate protection is not just a question of the quality of life, but rather a question of survival.
In his opening speech, Gabriel called for, among other things, more international research projects on the topics of energy efficiency and power engineering. He also praised the EnBW Project EnyCity in this context, which was developed as part of the initiative "Partners for Innovation".
As a result of the two-day summit “The Climate is Changing –Facts, Consequences, Perspectives”, the climate experts who were involved want to present a schedule to protect the climate tomorrow (Thursday), which will highlight sensible steps and measures for slowing climate change.
