Karlsruhe. In the run-up to May 1, 2003, when Gerhard Goll will be replaced by Prof. Dr. Utz Claassen as Chairman of the Board of Management of EnBW AG, further changes are being made to the top management team.

Gerhard Jochum will be leaving the Board of Management of EnBW Holding at his own request in mid-February 2003. Jochum, a close and long-standing colleague of the Chairman of the Board of Management, was responsible within the Group for, among other things, corporate development, the management of equity holdings, and relations with the municipalities, as well as contacts with politicians and economic policy-makers; he always cooperated closely with Gerhard Goll in the performance of his various duties. Through his departure, Jochum intends to open up the way for the new Chairman of the Board to re-allocate the fields of responsibility for Board members.

The Board of Management and Supervisory Board of EnBW AG regret his decision to leave and would like to thank Gerhard Jochum for his successful work for the good of the company.

In the words of Gerhard Goll, Jochum is a man whose commitment and untiring efforts on behalf of the Group were always exemplary and who played a major part in strengthening and consolidating EnBW's position in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and Europe. "The concept he developed for partnership with the political class, with business leaders, with customers and with the municipalities has become one of EnBW's trademarks", said Goll. "Gerhard Jochum knows the sector and the business inside out, and he ensured that EnBW profited greatly from his expertise and know-how. A major part of the growth that EnBW has achieved in the last two years has been down to Jochum. I wish him the very best for the future."
