Statement by the Chairman of the Board of Management of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, Gerhard Goll, on the decision to extend the operating licence of the Obrigheim nuclear power station:
Karlsruhe. Following the decision of the German government to transfer electricity volumes from the Philippsburg 1 nuclear power station to the Obrigheim nuclear power station, Gerhard Goll commented as follows:
"If you keep on banging your head against a brick wall, you run the risk of losing your head altogether. This applies to all of us – including EnBW and the German government. That is why the best solution is to work out a compromise.
Although we are not completely happy with the decision of the government, we will review this decision carefully rather than rejecting it out of hand. For we are also aware of the problems facing the newly elected government.
The relevant executive bodies at EnBW will discuss the decision in the coming days. I will outline and assess the arguments that speak in favour of and against the decision made by the government. At this point in time, my estimation of the situation is that it will not result in a serious dispute."
