Investing in the energy future
The €3.1 billion capital increase enabled us and our shareholders to send a powerful signal in 2025, with up to €50 billion set to be invested in restructuring the energy system between 2024 and 2030, a large part of which will be in Germany. From smart grids to wind farms and solar parks or hydrogen-ready gas power plants to innovative customer solutions – the investments cover the entire value chain. The system cost study commissioned by us points the way by showing that profitability, security of supply and climate change mitigation can be successfully combined. We know that we turn energy into action. We are also making this integrated approach clear in our nationwide campaign in Germany.
Investing in a green energy world
Sustainable energy solutions inspire: EnBW He Dreiht, currently Germany's largest wind farm in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, is taking shape around 90 km off the coast of Borkum. At Gundelsheim Energy Park – which is unlike any other in Germany – we are combining a solar park, wind turbines and battery storage systems in one place for the first time. And we are investing in the modernization of the Rudolf Fettweis plant, which is over 100 years old. The run-of-river power plant is being turned into a state-of-the-art pumped storage power plant.

Investing in a new era of power plants
Stuttgart is looking forward to a coal-free future. By investing in one of Germany’s first hydrogen-ready gas turbine power plants, we are continuing to take a climate-friendly approach to modernizing our power plant portfolio. The flexible gas power plant is already up and running in Stuttgart-Münster, complementing renewable energy sources while also guaranteeing grid stability in southern Germany. Similar plants are set to follow in Heilbronn and Altbach/Deizisau. In addition with the sale of our shares in the Lippendorf joint power plant effective 31 December 2025, we are now lignite-free.

Investing in everyday life and mobility
Cut electricity bills while helping to keep the grid stable and maintaining full transparency at all times – this is made possible by the energy manager EnBW Mavi. The intelligent home energy management system (HEMS) ensures that your EV charges when electricity is cheapest, for example, or when your own solar panels are generating plenty of power. EnBW is committed to smart energy solutions not only at home but also on the road: More than 8,000 EnBW fast-charging points are now in operation – in line with demand along long-distance transport routes and in urban areas and retail settings. In addition, the EnBW HyperNet provides access to more than 900,000 charging points in Europe.

Investing in an energy grid that is fit for the future
Grid expansion requires major investment. Through the participation model “EnBW connects”, 245 local authorities have invested around €330 million in Netze BW. TransnetBW has already completed 85 km of excavation work on SuedLink, the main project in Germany’s transmission grid. At the same time, ULTRANET – the direct current transmission line between Meerbusch-Osterath and Philippsburg, which TransnetBW is delivering together with Amprion, is also making progress.

Investing in smart minds
It has been the strongest training year in over ten years, with 316 young professionals embarking on their professional careers in September 2025. A total of 207 apprentices and 109 students on dual study programs are spread across more than 40 professions at 23 locations throughout Germany. After the training comes further training: We are continually investing in making sure our employees have the right qualifications. More than 4,000 learning opportunities are available on LernWerk, our Group-wide learning platform, which already has 24,000 users – with a focus on digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI).
