Karlsruhe. EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg Inc. received the contract to supply a total of 420 million kilowatt hours at this year’s group tendering process of the Baden-Württemberg Community Day. The supply period will be for 2 years from January 2006. A total of 195 local authorities and associations took part in the group tendering process in Baden-Württemberg.
The Europe-wide group tendering process was divided into different lots, for which a total of 8 electricity companies were competing. EnBW was able to win all lots for which it put in a tender. For this reason, EnBW will in the future supply the above-mentioned electricity to large industrial users, small users, for street lighting, as well as for heating.
“The fact that a total of 8 electricity companies took part in the group tendering process highlights the strong competition in the electricity market and also underlines EnBW’s offers, which are appropriate for the market and the competition we face?, said Reinald Rüger of EnBW Sales, Marketing and Service Association mbH. EnBW would in the future continue to be a reliable electricity partner of the municipalities in Baden-Württemberg.
EnBW is the biggest electricity company in Baden-Württemberg and the third biggest in Germany with about 5 million electricity customers. It has 17.700 employees and in 2004 had an annual turnover of 9.84 Billion Euros. EnBW’s core business areas are electricity, gas, as well as energy and environmental services. It has a visible presence in Baden-Württemberg, where it has numerous establishments, regional and district centres, and in this way offers its customers short travelling distances as well as efficient and personal customer contact.
