Small final and ten times bigger party!

More than 100,000 visitors enthusiastically supported the German national team at the “EnBW and SWR1 Tour for the FIFA World Cup 2006™ in Baden-Württemberg” on their way to the small final. All games of the German team and about a dozen other World Cup games were shown on the 40 square metre big screen in Freudenstadt, Karlsruhe, Biberach, Wertheim, Emmendingen, Tuttlingen, Langenau and Ravensburg.

“It was particularly important to us to take the Soccer World Cup to the fans in rural areas, to make it accessible to people in all regions of the Federal State and therefore to jointly celebrate the biggest home game ever. We succeeded in doing so,” said Dr. Peter Vest, Executive Sales Board Member of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG.

The exuberant atmosphere in the stadiums was replayed throughout the Federal State. The people took the opportunity umpteen thousand times to experience the World Cup live and locally. There were peaceful parties for the whole family without any noteworthy incidents, is how the event organisers EnBW, SWR1 and The Federal State of Baden-Württemberg summarised it.

“The exciting live atmosphere was felt in the whole Federal State. The tour made a significant contribution to ensuring that Germany’s most beautiful group of fans had an unforgettable experience at this fantastic World Cup,” said Prime Minister Günther H. Oettinger on Tuesday (11 July 2006) in Stuttgart.

The great success was certainly also due to the attractive supporting programme with performances by “Die Prinzen”, “Spider Murphy Gang” and “The Rattles”, as well as numerous activities ranging from goal wall shooting to the option of becoming actively involved on the soccer court.

“The successful combination of soccer, show and music – presented by moderators from SWR1 – wowed people of all ages and led to the tour through the Federal State being a big success,” said SWR Federal State Channel Director Dr. Willi Steul.

The event organisers thank the cities which the “EnBW and SWR1 Tour for the FIFA World Cup 2006™ in Baden-Württemberg” visited over the last few weeks. It was only thanks to their support and the assistance of numerous organisations, associations and authorities that the tour was possible.
