Oil samples are faultless - KKP 2 is back in operation
Philippsburg. Block 2 of the nuclear power station in Philippsburg (KKP 2) has been in operation again since Sunday afternoon, 26th July 2009. The operator, EnBW Kernkraft GmbH (EnKK), had shut it down on Friday to take and test oil samples from insulating candles in the generator transformers area. The oil samples have now been tested in the company's laboratory and in an external institute. They comply with the prescribed standards and guidelines, meaning that KKP 2 could be put back into operation again. The decision to close down the plant to take the samples is a sign of the high culture of safety with which EnBW operates its power stations: safety always takes precedence over other aspects.
The supervisory authority, the Ministry of the Environment in Baden-Württemberg, was informed of the results of the sample testing.
