Energy generation and consumption must always be in balance to ensure that the power grid remains stable. That’s what physics wants. In the past, large power plants produced just as much electricity as households and industry needed at a given point in time. Now that increasingly more wind farms and photovoltaic plants are generating electricity according to weather conditions, it is also necessary to adapt energy consumption to fluctuating generation. For this we need an intelligent (i.e. smart) energy system as well as energy users who support it.
