The Low German name for EnBW’s third wind farm in the North Sea – He Dreiht or “It Spins” – could hardly be a more apt description: By spring 2026, the 64 wind What would be a good name for an offshore wind farm that is shaped like a triangle? EnBW quite simply opted for the Low German word “Dreekant,” which literally translates as “three edges.”
EnBW secured the land for developing Dreekant at an auction in June 2024. It plans to submit the approval application in 2026, with the final investment decision due to be made in 2028. The wind farm is set to go online 120 km northwest of Helgoland in 2031 and will generate enough electricity to supply the equivalent of 1.35 million households.
