Dr. Georg Stamatelopoulos
Chief Executive Officer
Georg Stamatelopoulos was born in Athens in 1970. He received his doctorate in engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig in 1996. He worked for the manufacturing industry from 1998 to 2010 and held leading positions at AE Energietechnik GmbH in Vienna and ALSTOM Power Systems GmbH in Stuttgart and Paris.
He joined EnBW in July 2010, where he was initially responsible for conventional and renewable new construction projects in the area of generation - including the expansion of the Iffezheim hydropower plant and the construction of the RDK8 hard coal-fired power plant and the EnBW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm.
In August 2014, he was appointed Head of the Generation Business Unit and was responsible for the operation of renewable and conventional generation facilities. In addition, he was responsible for the Contracting business unit from January 2020.
He was appointed to the EnBW Board of Management effective 1 June 2021, as Chief Operating Officer for the “Sustainable Generation Infrastructure” segment, which encompasses generation and trading matters.
Dr. Georg Stamatelopoulos was appointed Chairman of the Board of Management effective 9 March 2024. Besides being responsible for Strategy/Group development and Sustainability, he co-ordinates the areas of Innovation, Research and Development, Safety, Security and Environmental Protection, Communications, Policy and Government Affairs and IT and Digital Office.
