As one of Germany’s largest energy suppliers, we are helping to shape the future of energy. Through our research projects, we aim to open up new business opportunities for EnBW. Where will electricity and heat come from when we no longer use coal, oil or gas? How can modern technologies be utilised even more effectively? And how can we better integrate the generation and consumption sides of the energy system? We explore questions such as these in pilot and demonstration projects – often in collaboration with technology companies, research institutes, colleges and universities.

Key to the transportation transition

There can be no transportation transition without e-mobility. Electrification is the key to reducing CO₂ emissions in the transportation sector. Through several projects involving passenger cars, buses, and trucks, we are conducting research on how wireless charging can make e-mobility even more user-friendly and extend driving ranges.

Geothermal energy

Power from the depths

The earth holds a vast potential for energy. That is why EnBW has been advocating for years for the development of geothermal energy (also known as earth heat) as an alternative, climate-friendly energy source. In some parts of Baden-Württemberg, particularly in the Upper Rhine Valley, the conditions for harnessing deep geothermal energy are especially favorable.
