Contribution: UN Sustainable Development Goals
EnBW’s corporate strategy aims at making a contribution to achieving national and international sustainability targets, above all the Paris climate protection targets and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a participant of the UN Global Compact, we align our activities with its principles and contribute to advancing the SDGs. Our contribution focuses on four central SDGs.
Our activities also contribute to five further SDGs: Quality education (4), Gender equality (5), Clean water and sanitation (6), Decent work and economic growth (8), Responsible consumption and production (12).
Ambition: Net Zero
EnBW is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions within the company by 2040 and across the entire value chain by 2050 at the latest. Key milestones on this path include:
- the continued expansion of renewable energy
- the phase-out of coal by the end of 2028
- major investments in electricity and gas grids, including hydrogen infrastructure
